[More than anyone right now, he knows that the fact that someone's actually dead means that there's going to be some sort of investigationーand it's that alone that makes him sick to the pit of his stomach, the fact that this is seen almost like some sort of game instead of the way a dead person should be mourned and it hurts.

It hurts so much that he almost barely notices Max's hands on his shoulders and he can only stare down with gritted teeth.

He hates this.

As much as he sometimes acts standoffish because he isn't used to interacting with other people, this is just horrible. And while he's old enough to understand the truth of the situation and not run away from it, there's just something about the chiding, the attempt to reassure that "everything will be alright" that makes him even more upset.

Those are words that he's heard before, from someone kind.

And he understands that the person in front of him is kind enough to say those words, but:]
