test drive

This is the official test drive for Visitants! Feel free to use this as to gather samples (8 comments from your char) or voicetest. Reserves open March 30th. Feel free to hit up our FAQ if you have any questions.

Please list your character's name (canon also recommended) in the header of your top-level prompt.

1 - Count Chocula
You find yourself awoken in a long-abandoned cabin, far too dusty for anyone's comfort and cobwebs practically coating the wall. Once you leave the cabin, you find yourself in a town in the middle of the woods that's...not looking much better. There are others here in similar situations, however, maybe you should look at them?

2 - Frankenberry
Day-to-day living in town is...simple enough. Try and escape and you'll just get lost in the woods until you find your way back. You're also a bit limited in terms of...comfort. There's not a lot here in the way of entertainment, but it seems as though you'll have enough to do in order to keep yourselves busy.

For you see, unlike other murdergames, the restaurant has been long-abandoned. While there are a limited amount of rations around the town should you scavenge, and a small supply in your room appears now and then to keep you from starving, you'll have to hunt should you want to keep hunger away. Fortunately, there are bows and arrows available...

For the less hunt-inclined members of the group, you can find something to do. Gather wood for campfires,  tend to the camp, and there's a limited amount of fertile ground available for crops. Surely you can find something to do to improve life here.

3 - Boo Berry
Congrats! Somebody did a murder. Maybe it was even you. Maybe it was one of your friends. Maybe the victim was your brother. Might want to look into that, maybe?

4 - Fruit Brute
...This place is haunted. You come to this conclusion based on the fact that either you got caught during a trial, and you wake up as a ghost, or your dead friend who was killed is now floating around like it's nothing. Might have to adjust to life as a ghost.

5 - Fruity Yummy Mummy

For all the spooky prompts you wanna do that we don't have.

Keep in mind that posting in the test drive does not represent a commitment to join our game. You're welcome to play here even if you can't app. Playing here does not guarantee a slot in the game, nor does it count as a reserve.

[Mmmmm don't trust like that.]

Blood healing? Most of your blood seems to be outside of your body, from the look of it. But if you're so certain you can take care of it on your own, I will defer to your judgement.

[He just doesn't want to argue with a stubborn fool right now. He's done enough of that in the last few days, and this guy is just all sorts of suspicious. Normally he would have easily caught on to the attempt to change the topic so suddenly, but the question Alfred poses really does catch him off-guard.]

Never heard of-- [Hm.] Cyrodiil, the Imperial Province. It is my homeland, and the center of Tamriel.

[He's just throwing out a bunch of keywords here. Surely the guy must have seen it on a map, at the very least, or heard some sort of nickname for the province. He can't be that far removed from society, though it's seeming more and more like that is, in fact, the case. Maybe he's... a Nord? Nords are like that sometimes. Martin decides to try that, and one more for good measure.]

South of Skyrim, West of Morrowind.

[(:]

Can't say I recognize any of those names at all.

[Literally none of these places ring a bell. Alfred isn't stupid. Well, actually he is. He's a dumbass, but a ... somewhat valid one. Still, he knows the world outside of Yharnam and he's never heard of any of these places in his life. Maybe they're different names for places he actually does know? Because that's happened to him before for sure.]

Have you... ever heard of Yharnam? Plague town, kind of locked off from the world currently, has lots of werewolves and other absolutely disgusting creatures running around.

...Strange.

[He manages to at least keep that one word composed enough, even though his mind is racing. Not recognizing Cyrodiil is odd, the same could be said for Skyrim and Morrowind, but not recognizing Tamriel... it takes a while to realize that Alfred is speaking again, and Martin struggles to catch the remainder of his words.]

Ah... Yharnam, you said? I'm sorry, it doesn't sound familiar.

[Though if it's only a town then it makes sense to him that he wouldn't recognize it. He knew his maps well enough, but only on a large scale, and if it was outside of Tamriel then of course he couldn't claim to know it.]

But... werewolves, and a plague. [He shakes his head. Maybe Nirn is just falling apart entirely.] I'm sorry. I wish we could provide you with aid, but...

[He stops there, after a second, weighing things over in his mind. Strategically it might not be the best idea to tell someone outside of Tamriel that Cyrodiil is being torn apart by Daedra, but-- it's only one individual. Granted, he isn't sure how powerful of an individual he is. In the end, Martin errs on the side of caution, keeping his words vague.]

...as you can imagine, Cyrodiil has problems of its own. It seems at times that there's no end to it all.

It's fine, we have nightly hunts to go after the beasts who plague our city. Did you know if someone's not technically human that it's perfectly fine to end their life?

[Which is why it was absolutely okay to mutilate the immortal Queen Annalise like that in his opinion. She can't and won't die, so Alfred feels absolutely no guilt over it. Not to mention the Healing Church's very easy solution to everything regarding the people who have been corrupted by blood is just to murder them. If there's a mistake, it's easier to kill it and bury it under a rug so no one will notice, you know?]

What sort of problems does your Cyrodiil have?

[That gets him something of a sharp look from Martin.]

Even a man turned beast is still a man. Lycanthropy is but a disease-- it can be cured, Divines willing. There are far more creatures than men that walk this realm, not all of them ought to be slaughtered with so little regard.

[Strange as this man is, Martin realizes that the threat of Daedric invasion impacts all of them. He deserves at least a warning. He runs a hand down his face, overwhelmed with literally everything about this conversation and internally debating what he can and can't say.]

A Daedric invasion. They opened a gate from their realm into ours-- invaded a small town known as Kvatch. [To get to him, he knows now. He wonders, if he stays here long enough, if this place might meet the same fate.] I fear they may seek to do the same to all of Tamriel. You would be wise to keep your guard up, should we find a way to return to our homes. Assuming you are not too preoccupied with slaughtering the diseased of your town.

We in Yharnam have no such cure for lycanthropy, Brother Martin, and a man turned beast is no longer a man in my eyes. I've seen countless of my fellow executioners and hunters killed by those fiends. They are monstrosities that should be erased from this plane of existence. [Change My Mind.PNG]

Daedric invasion? [wtf is he talking about] What do they... hope to accomplish? Just mindless slaughter? Or do you know if they have a bigger goal in mind?

Have you not looked elsewhere for a cure? Or tried capturing those who have turned until you can find a method to protect those who have not? Believe me, I understand the threat of Daedra worship more than most, but Hircine's hunters are well-known to spread the illness to entirely innocent men. Men who should be pitied-- feared, perhaps, but not hated.

[He has no mercy for those who turned voluntarily, but. He's still a priest, to some degree, he wants to believe that much even if he can't fully trust the gods right now. Defend your people, yes, but heal the sick and protect the weak as well.]

I cannot claim to understand the will or intent of the Daedra. But... supposedly, they came looking for something in particular. [Or. Someone. But he's super not comfortable with the fact that it was very likely him they were after, and that his continued presence makes him a threat. That and he doesn't want to mention that they're trying to usurp the bloodline. Some random stranger doesn't really need to know the political danger the Empire is in.] The fact that they did not find it leads me to believe that they will continue to search elsewhere until they do.

No one goes outside of Yharnam. It's quarantined off from the rest of the world. However that still doesn't stop the people who hear of our town and come for the the Old Blood, which is known to cure any and all illnesses one may have, but hardly any of them ever actually make it out of the town and its surrounding areas alive. [The whole "become a hunter for the church if you cannot afford payment for the blood" thing is a mess. You've got completely ordinary civilians with no training going up against all sorts of beasts and losing their lives in the process.] I do believe doctors in the Church have been working on a cure for lycanthropy though, but they haven't gotten anywhere with it last I checked in with them.

[Also the... capturing people who had turned thing wouldn't really work. The Church would absolutely rather kill innocents instead of owning up to their mistakes and trying to actually help people in need.]

What are Daedra exactly, if you don't mind me asking?

...I am sorry.

[He isn't entirely sure what else to say, because what can you do in a situation like that? Quarantining the town is the safer idea, but if they've made no progress on finding a cure then the whole population will simply die off eventually, one way or another.]

Do not lose hope. Arkay willing, your priests may yet find the cure you seek.

[Although, he thinks, other options remain. He can't butt into the affairs of a town he has no rule over, of course, but it doesn't stop the thought from nagging at the back of his head. They could evacuate the healthy, they could just restrain the beasts, they could-- but surely they are doing all they can in that situation. Martin has to remain focused on his own trials, in any case.]

Daedra... [dear Akatosh, this city must be more cut off from the rest of the world than he thought] are beings that hail from the realms of Oblivion. Spirits, as they have no connection to the physical realm, though they are capable of manifesting themselves here briefly.

I hope they are able to find a cure as well, but the Church seems to be preoccupied with... other things at the moment.

[Things he suspects are not the citizens' best interest. Of course, he hasn't really looked into the whole matter, and he doesn't really care to either. It's not really his problem and he has more important things to worry about.]

Oblivion? [Sounds kind of terrifying but that's fine.] How long are the Daedra able to manifest themselves in the waking world? What's the best way to get rid of them-- kill them?

[google search how to say 'i have no fuckin clue' and still sound collected

But. At least they're on a topic Martin knows a great deal about, even if it isn't all pleasant to remember. Summoning Daedra escapes him entirely, but banishing Daedra is something he's well-versed in. It doesn't really occur to him that maybe they should focus on finding out where they are and what's going on rather than standing around being sapio.]

It isn't so precise that it can be calculated down to the minute. It depends largely on circumstance, not to mention the sort of Daedra being dealt with. As you can imagine, the princes have much more reign than a lesser being would.

[The only ones he's dealt with fighting first-hand were the lesser Daedra, in Kvatch, and that was abnormal due to the opened gate. He isn't entirely sure how long they'd manifest without someone there to destroy their physical forms.]

In that same vein, a lesser Daedra can be easily killed, yes, and banished from this plane accordingly. But one cannot simply kill a Daedric prince.
