test drive

This is the official test drive for Visitants! Feel free to use this as to gather samples (8 comments from your char) or voicetest. Reserves open March 30th. Feel free to hit up our FAQ if you have any questions.

Please list your character's name (canon also recommended) in the header of your top-level prompt.

1 - Count Chocula
You find yourself awoken in a long-abandoned cabin, far too dusty for anyone's comfort and cobwebs practically coating the wall. Once you leave the cabin, you find yourself in a town in the middle of the woods that's...not looking much better. There are others here in similar situations, however, maybe you should look at them?

2 - Frankenberry
Day-to-day living in town is...simple enough. Try and escape and you'll just get lost in the woods until you find your way back. You're also a bit limited in terms of...comfort. There's not a lot here in the way of entertainment, but it seems as though you'll have enough to do in order to keep yourselves busy.

For you see, unlike other murdergames, the restaurant has been long-abandoned. While there are a limited amount of rations around the town should you scavenge, and a small supply in your room appears now and then to keep you from starving, you'll have to hunt should you want to keep hunger away. Fortunately, there are bows and arrows available...

For the less hunt-inclined members of the group, you can find something to do. Gather wood for campfires,  tend to the camp, and there's a limited amount of fertile ground available for crops. Surely you can find something to do to improve life here.

3 - Boo Berry
Congrats! Somebody did a murder. Maybe it was even you. Maybe it was one of your friends. Maybe the victim was your brother. Might want to look into that, maybe?

4 - Fruit Brute
...This place is haunted. You come to this conclusion based on the fact that either you got caught during a trial, and you wake up as a ghost, or your dead friend who was killed is now floating around like it's nothing. Might have to adjust to life as a ghost.

5 - Fruity Yummy Mummy

For all the spooky prompts you wanna do that we don't have.

Keep in mind that posting in the test drive does not represent a commitment to join our game. You're welcome to play here even if you can't app. Playing here does not guarantee a slot in the game, nor does it count as a reserve.

Then it will be twice the learning experience. Diplomacy and farming.

[Though by the time they've reached the building it doesn't look like they'll have any trouble, and after a while of rifling through cabinets and floorboards Martin's found at least a small amount of rations to comb through. At the request, he glances up with a slightly quirked eyebrow as he searches.]

Just Ven. I cannot promise I will remember, but I will try. [He pauses briefly in sorting through the next bunch of rations, a thought occurring to him suddenly.] Those I am familiar with in Cyrodiil, where I hail from-- we make use of titles far more than names. A hard habit to shake, I'm afraid.

[And one formed by associating with other servants of Akatosh and the Blades. But here he has no need to be a priest or an emperor-- perhaps he can afford to attempt to be more casual. He'd gone so quickly from one occupation to another after Kvatch that he hadn't stopped to consider dropping the formalities at all, and he wonders if his travelling partner was offended by the mindset. It's hard to say if he'll ever get the chance to go back home and ask him about something as trivial as that.]

In fact, my, ah... companion has gone by the title of Hero as long as I have known him. I suppose I never thought to ask what he might prefer to be called instead.

[ Ventus laughs a bit at that and he will look over at the rations too, trying to do his part to help. At the very least he knows what a seed looks like!

He's sure Aqua and Terra would be proud. ]

Really?

[ The blond looked kind of curious at that, reminiscing of a memory with friends he had made -- specifically of their attempts to become "heroes". ]

Did that ever get kinda confusing? Since there must have been other people going by "Hero", right?

[ There can't just be one person going by hero, he thinks. ]

If there were, I was not acquainted with them. Regardless, I think all who know of him would agree that he more than earned his title.

[Of course, he was far from the only citizen to attempt to save their land, but even among the Blades he was the most dedicated. Though Martin sounds fond at the mention of him, it's hard not grow solemn when he considers how the Hero fares without him-- how the Empire fares without a Septim.

He shakes those thoughts off, though, as he goes about putting away the rations they've dug through. He's done more than enough brooding on the topic, and he hardly wants to keep the focus on his own memories. He drops the conversation there, shifting it abruptly.]

So, Ven. You don't farm and you don't negotiate for a living. What do you do, then?

He sounds like a good guy.

[ Ventus can tell with the way Martin's acting when he mentions him, and he's a little curious about him, but he doesn't mind the shift of conversation. Despite it bringing back events that aren't exactly pleasant. He'll start with the simple things and hopefully have it stay simple. ]

...Uh, I was training to become a Keyblade Master with my friends Aqua and Terra. I don't remember how long ago it started, and it was what I did before I woke up here.

[ Ventus isn't sure he is supposed to be telling anyone about the existence of keyblades, but it's going to be moot if he needs to fight and he manages to bring it out, since people will be asking questions anyway. So, he reasons it's okay. ]

Keyblade?

[He's not really familiar with most weapons. Or any weapons, really, outside of basic swords and daggers (though that's largely due to extensive training with the Blades, as of late).

Still, he glances at Ventus sideways as he starts back to the field. He does seem relatively young to be training to be a master of any sort of weapon, but... well, Martin knows full well that not every land is entirely peaceful. He's hardly about to ask what they could possibly be fighting for, though-- he's trying to tread lightly when it comes to memories of where they all were before they got here.]

You and your friends... you are warriors, then.

A Keyblade's a giant key that you can use to fight with -- and it packs a punch when you get hit with it. They're usually used to fight against the darkness.

[ For lack of a better explanation, honestly, but simple will do for now.

The blond will follow the other man as they head back to the field. ]

...So, yeah! We are warriors -- warriors of light. I haven't seen them in awhile, either. But I think that, no matter where they are, they'll be alright. Gotta have faith in your friends, right?

[ He'll manage a smile, even if he misses them, he knows he'll somehow make his way back to them. He's sure it's the same for Martin and that Hero guy he knew. ]

A key? Well, that does sound like it would be effective.

[He supposes he's seen stranger weapons-- some of the artifacts of the princes tend to take on unusual forms when they manifest in Tamriel, but it's still bizarre to imagine. He doesn't assume the darkness versus light battle is a literal one, but figures he understands the concept well enough.

Inwardly, he has to commend Ven's optimism, something Martin himself often finds difficult to keep up. And it's a good way to read the sincerity of an individual, listening to the way they talk about those who are not present.]

I am certain your friends value your faith in them greatly. Wherever they are, they will hold their own until you find one another again.

[He has to believe that, too, that his own friends are holding each other together in his absence.]

Besides, it's looking as though you'll have much to teach them when you return.

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-03-29 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It is. You can even lock up items with it too, so it can be pretty convenient.

[ Ventus is still happy to hear that from someone he's just come to know -- it just adds more to his faith that his friends will turn out alright. Even if things went bad the last time they were with each other, it wouldn't do to think on the bad side of things.

As the man continues to speak, the blond grins sheepishly, moving a hand to rub at the back of his head. It seems him being able to teach his friends something new wasn't something he thought of, but now that he thinks it, Martin does have a point. ]

... Yeah, I guess I do! I'm also pretty sure that they would like to know how to plant things and stuff, since we'll probably be doing some of that when all of us manage to meet up and then find our way home.

[He has to pause for a couple of seconds to think that over, glancing at Ventus and just trying to picture it. If it's large enough to be a blade, then... how...]

But surely a key large enough to be wielded as a weapon couldn't fit into any sort of keyhole.

[Then again, he hardly understands weaponry to any decent extent. Especially not such peculiar-sounding weaponry, it isn't hard to imagine that it must have some sort of magical property. He doesn't take much more time to dwell on it, in any case.]

Well, everyone ought to know the basics of either hunting or farming. It certainly doesn't hurt to know both-- I believe you will be a valuable teacher once you find them again.

[He pauses, seemingly thinking to himself before shaking his head.]

Hopefully your friends are not as stubborn as my own. I doubt they would ever take the time to listen to any sort of lecture on self-sufficiency.
